The local council granted a permit for the Friends of Ballarat Horse Trials cross-country course to extend into Victoria Park.The course was designed and built by Ewan Kellet. All dressage tests were held on permanent all-weather arenas and showjumping on a fully surfaced sand arena.

An estimated 75 to 100 horses were killed when a massive tornado tore through Moore, Okla., on Monday afternoon
The horses were located at the 106-acre Orr Family Farm which was devastated by the huge twister. It has been reported that the horses' stalls and barns took a direct hit from the deadly tornado, whose strength has been estimated as an F4 or F5.
